Final INTELHUB Seminar
January 14, 2025
For the past three years, the INTELHUB team has explored crucial topics such as public trust in intelligence services, the legitimacy of intelligence agencies, and the democratic accountability of intelligence practices. Throughout this journey, we have attended international conferences, published a book, articles, and policy briefs, and, most importantly, built a strong professional network of brilliant intelligence scholars—primarily from Scandinavia—that we hope will thrive for years to come.
Beyond research, we have succeeded in putting Scandinavian Intelligence Studies on the international scholarly map. We have influenced teaching and learning activities for professionals, contributed to the public debate on intelligence matters, and helped shape discussions on intelligence accountability and legitimacy.
While the INTELHUB project has officially come to an end, the research and the network will continue. We look forward to seeing how INTELHUB and Scandinavian Intelligence Studies evolve in the years ahead.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and engaged with INTELHUB—your contributions have been invaluable. And a special thanks to the Carlsberg Foundation for making this work possible.

October 23, 2024
INTELHUB celebrated the publication of the book “Intelligence Studies in High-Trust Societies: Scandinavian Exceptionalism?” together with contributing authors, colleagues, and friends.
This day marked a wonderful culmination of an exciting and incredible journey, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed, been involved or supported the process.
This is one of the greatest achievements of our research project, which aims at contributing to the international scholarly literature on intelligence studies and to gather a Scandinavian intelligence research community.
The conference was held at Carlsberg Museum, and we discussed four broad topics: publicity & public trust, intelligence & civil society, new intelligence actors, and innovation in intelligence.
Thanks to all the presenters, who, in addition to the INTELHUB team, were Karen Lund Petersen, Thomas Wegener Friis, Ingvild Bruce, Maya Mynster Christensen, Helene Gundhus, Tallat Rønn Shakoor, and Sille Obelitz Søe.
We also want to express our gratitude to our friends and colleagues from Leiden University, Simon Willmetts, Damien Van Puyvelde, Bas Rietjens, and Thomas Maguire, who joined us for this special day and enriched our discussions with their perspectives.
Finally, thanks to all the participants for the engaging conversations and to the Carlsberg Foundation for supporting our research.
